Inspired by an old neighbor, this modal tune incorporates
the hijaz scale as the harmonic foundation. The melody is through-
composed over a groove, with alternating bars of 2/4 and 3/4. The solo
section opens up into 4/4 in groups of three measures, creating an
unpredictable and interesting harmonic and rhythmic phrasing. ~Carton
